TRILLA & MARVELL (NEW VIDEO ROUND UP)
Trilla Jermaine Trilloski isn’t a new name to anyone who’s kept their eye on the Bassline scene past the big 2007 explosion of T2/H20/Platnum/everyone having a bassline remix. Still very much alive and well the Grime of the Midlands and Northern England is still developing and nurturing talent, vibes and potential future crossover artists & producers.
Step forward Trilla (or Trilla Jermaine Trilloski as he’s known now) who currently boasts of being the only Birmingham Bassline Emcee who can get as big a reaction in Essex and London as he does in his hometown – something completely unheard of for 99% of the emcees currently within the scene thanks to underground bangers like ‘G Star’ and the now legendary ‘Etap’. He’s so hot, even Tim’s jumped on the bandwagon, inviting him to perform at his crib sessions and on the In New Music We Trust Weekender show in Newcastle.
Signed to H20′s label ‘Insatiable’ – this is the video for his debut single proper “Who Are Ya”
Sidebar: Oz from H20/Insatiable used to go to Uni with my wife. She didn’t know this until they bumped into each other at one of my gigs in Leicester post the ‘What’s It Gonna Be’ success. Leicester must be a very small place!
I’ve been waiting and waiting for Marvell aka Shocka, Vertex and Double S to put out the Chew Fu version of their Grime hit ‘Trainers (Creps)’ for months – ever since I hooked them up personally with Chew Fu last November – as I think it has some real “crossover without over crossing” potential. Well, I’m told reliably that the delay has been down to some very interesting contracts/deals going down regarding the song which, if it comes off, will be a first for the scene. In the meanwhile, to make sure people don’t forget about them; the Marvell boys have put together a new mixtape “Marvell FM 3″ and have shot the video to this, “Marvell Music”, produced by 17 year old Brummie producer S-X aka Mr Wooooo Riddim….
