MISTAJAM.COM – A NEW DAWN

This post is best read with this theme music…

Last week, I went on twitter to search out some new writing talent to join the team here at mistajam.com and after a really healthy take up, I’ve decided to give a few people a go at writing for this blog. Over the course of the next few days, I’ll be putting up their first pieces.

The ultimate idea is that I really want to expand this blog. Since I started blogging, initially on myspace in 2004 then moving over to the BBC blogging platform at a time when the beeb were just piloting blogs in 2005 to finally setting up my own home on the net in 2008 (this site right here); it seems every DJ, his dog, cat, mouse and booking agent has their own blog and, truth be told, the majority of them are quite frankly shit.

The line of what sets one blog apart from the other has been blurred and for me, as a blog fan, the number of blogs that are actually essential reads are less than a quarter of those that exist. I aim to make mistajam.com one of those quarter and I can’t do that alone. There just aren’t enough hours in the day.

This blog is an extension of the work I do on my shows on Radio 1 & Radio 1Xtra: exposing the finest in Underground music regardless of genre to a wider audience.

The aim is that there will be at least one piece on this blog per day worthwhile of your time.

Sometimes the piece may simply be a video, picture or music clip with a relevant comment.
Sometimes, it may be a 500+ word essay.
Sometimes, it might even be a debate provoker.
Sometimes, it might even be a video blog specifically for the site.

Either way, the aim is there that by the end of May, the A team will be assembled and there will be at least one piece per day worthy of your attention.

So keep your bookmarks/RSS/Atom feeds tuned to mistajam.com – the team are being formed like the Power Rangers and we’re going to be going in…
