This week’s Jam Hot comes courtesy of an artist I’ve personally been supporting since 2008 when he waited for me outside 1Xtra to personally hand deliver me the “R.I.P. Young Dot” mixtape. Having been heavily supported on 1Xtra via DJ Cameo before that and being a former member of Essentials and the OGz, I knew the pedigree and gravitated towards the track ‘I’m Not One Of Them’.

Fast forward 3 years and Dot is signed to a major label in the form of Mercury, the UK home of Rihanna, Kanye West, Maverick Sabre, Chase and Status and Nero. He is currently on tour with label mates Chase & Status and to warm up for this, his first official major label single, recently put out the free to download EP ‘Above The Waves’ featuring this – Normal Human Being:

Last week while still on the road with Chase and Status, Dot called into the show to première his official major label debut single “Keep It On The Low”. Taking nods from Joker’s synth leads and skittering drums it’s produced by the team fast becoming the go-to hitmakers for UK MCs TMS (the mandem responsible for Dappy’s No Regrets, Tinchy’s Spaceship and Professor Green ft Emeli Sande’s Read All About It). With no release date set as yet, this has the potential to introduce Dot to the mainstream in an uncompromising way and this week, it is Jam Hot
