The first one earlier this year, “Follow U” featuring the ever wonderful Ayah Marar received heavy radio and online support after being premièred on my 1Xtra show. On Friday 16th December I will be DJing at www.westburybar.com in North West London alongside my good friend and turntable terrorist CJ Beatz and the promoters of the night are giving one lucky budding DJ the chance to get the crowd buzzing in anticipation of my set. Not only that but you will be given the full VIP DJ treatment…including rider and free entry for all of your entourage.

I’ve heard there are a few tasty remixes forthcoming but as a taster, we here at MistaJam.com have been very kindly given an exclusive edit of everyone’s favourite braided Croydon Dubstep don Kutz remix to give away for free (at the end of this post). Taking the original down a bouncy Dubstep route, I have a feeling this will become a set staple for every good DJ worth their salt:

The duo’s upcoming album, set for release in early 2012 features collaborations with a new wave of electronic music stars and producers from around the world. Album sessions have seen the band working with the likes of Skrillex, Diplo and Chiddy Bang which sounds really interesting. Just like all cool people (well, I would say that) Jack Beats currently curate a quarterly night at London club Fabric which has played host to the likes of Sub Focus, DJ Zinc and the Crookers. The next date is 2nd Dec which will feature Busy P (Ed Banger) and 12th Planet. It may feature me skanking out on stage in a post 1Xtra Live haze too, although I can’t guarantee that!

Great concept behind the EP – for those of us that paid attention in theology class, Purgatory is said to be that state we go into when we die – not quite paradise, but no longer living. As an artist GFrsh is in that realm with his career – not quite underground & unknown and not quite mainstream & infamous. Here’s hoping he gets rightful passage! With the strength of these tracks, I’m sure he’ll sail it through. Standouts for me include ‘Hands Up’ featuring The Thirst, ‘Dolla Dolla’ featuring Goldielocks and of course ‘Alone’ featuring Arrows Down.
