This week’s Jam Hot comes courtesy of Derby’s finest, Youngman. You may know him from his collaborative projects with 1Xtra’s Crissy Criss… You may know him as Benga’s tour MC… You may even know him as D&B veteran Simon Bassline Smith’s son (off’ve Drumsound & Bassline Smith). What you need to know is that he’s now linked with the legendary Shy FX’s Digital Soundboy imprint following former Jam Hot ‘One & Only’ and this is his next single.

Featuring and produced by Skream and due for release on 15th Jan, here’s Youngman breaking down how he hooked up with Benga, Skream and the Digital Soundboy camp.

Jam posted about Volume 1 so I’m stepping in to post the second installment of dubstep icon, Skream’s ‘Freeizm’ release.

Skream dropped the five, 320 quality, tunes on his Twitter hours ago. I’m a massive fan of the chilled out dubstep which is probably why I prefer this volume to the first. There’s even a remix of Loefah’s Indian Dub.

It’s a big look for artists like Skream to show love to their fans like this.

Any chance of Volume 3, Ollie?

I’m buzzing for this album, tracks are dropping all over Radio 1/1Xtra now. So far, I’ve heard Where You Should Be, The Epic Last Song and 8 Bit Baby but my favourite still remains the first track I heard from the LP, Listenin’ To The Records On My Wall.

PRO GREEN – HARD NIGHT OUT (VIDEO)

Formerly signed to The Streets, my boy Professor Green has just finished a very unique and different video for his first single ‘Hard Night Out’. Alongside hypeman and producer Core is Adam Deacon on the drums and a host of characters acting really hard. He didn’t call me to appear in the video as I couldn’t apparently act ‘hard enough’!

Hard Night Out is out on July 6th 2009 – watch out for a remix from Skream!

BENGA DUBPLATE RINSE OUT

As I said in my interview with LeftLion Magazine – 2009 is the year that Dubstep & Funky will take over. There’s so much quality music out there, it’s very exciting to be a DJ on national radio to be able to represent all genres and expose this music to a national audience.

I got into dubstep in early 2007 – quite a latecomer really. As with so many of us new school dubstep fans, it was one infectious bassline in particular that got us hooked – Benga & Coki’s “Night”. You could play that record to any crowd: from Rock, to Mainstream, to “Urban” to Dance…and everyone would go nuts. We tried to get Benga on the show to do a guest mix for us. And tried. And tried. Then as Magnetic Man’s “Cyberman” is Jam Hot this week and as Benga is one third of Magnetic Man (alongside Artwork and Skream), we were able to try again to get him into the show and this time we succeeded!

On Tuesday, armed with a bag of the freshest dubplates (yes, real dubplates – VINYL!!); Benga threw down the sickest of guest mixes after a brief interview about his past, present & future:
